Why We Built This Site
New York provides several paths to public court and agency records, but Washington County has no combined criminal-history portal. The sheriff holds its own arrest and booking files. County Court and the town or village justice courts maintain the cases they hear. DCJS supplies a person's fingerprint-based personal record review, while the Office of Court Administration offers a separate public court-history search. DOCCS and the New York State Sex Offender Registry answer still different questions. This site organizes those official channels and explains their boundaries so readers can begin with the record holder most likely to have the requested document.
What You Will Find Here
The material focuses on record access in Washington County and the New York systems connected to it.
- Agency contacts: verified court, sheriff, jail, DCJS, corrections, and registry routes.
- Record access: instructions for finding and reading criminal court case records.
- Official review: the difference between OCA name-based court searches and DCJS fingerprint review.
- Record sealing: where New York sealing and Clean Slate procedures begin.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a New York court, the Washington County Sheriff, a police department, or a state agency. Its role has firm limits.
- It cannot retrieve an official record or run an official background check.
- It cannot issue a certified court document or DCJS rap sheet.
- It cannot submit a FOIL request or record-sealing motion for a visitor.
- It cannot give legal advice about a charge, warrant, or case.
- It cannot promise that an outside office has not changed a fee, number, or procedure.
An official copy must come from the Washington County office, court, DCJS, or other government agency that maintains the original record.
Search Partners
Search boxes may be supplied by outside providers. Those companies operate their own services, choose their own prices, and control their results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports this free reference resource. Washington County Criminal History does not control the partner's data, coverage, or charges.
