Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to this website. Visiting its pages, using a search feature, or reading its material signifies acceptance of the terms below. Anyone who does not agree with them must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not connected with a local, New York State, or federal government agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service intended for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant screening, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its role is to direct readers to criminal-record resources for Washington County and New York. It is neither a private investigation business nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a privately run reference resource with no government affiliation. It does not maintain official criminal records, retrieve government files, conduct official background checks, or submit forms on a visitor's behalf.

The site identifies sources that hold Washington County records, including the Sheriff's Office, criminal courts, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. It may also provide access to outside tools that readers can choose to use for research.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Violate federal, New York State, or local law through the site
  • Apply information found here to threaten, stalk, or harass another person
  • Rely on site content for housing, employment, credit, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Enter restricted systems or attempt to obtain unauthorized access
  • Use scraping software, bots, or other automated means on these pages
  • Disrupt site operation or interfere with access by other visitors

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information obtained here or through a linked service to intimidate, threaten, discriminate against, stalk, or harass a person. Such conduct may also violate criminal law. New York restricts misuse of New York State Sex Offender Registry information, and unlawful conduct directed at a registrant can bring criminal consequences. Registry information is published for public-safety awareness. It is not a basis for vigilantism, housing discrimination, or employment blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This site is not a consumer reporting agency within the meaning of the FCRA. It creates no consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Its advertising partners likewise do not provide tools designed to assess job candidates, rental applicants, insurance pricing, or credit standing. Information from the site or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make a hiring, dismissal, or other employment decision
  • Evaluate a prospective renter or housing applicant
  • Assess credit standing or calculate an insurance premium
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity covered by the FCRA

A lawful check for a regulated purpose must come from an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider or an official channel authorized for that use. DCJS personal record review is for a person to obtain their own fingerprint-based New York criminal history and is not a public screening service.

5. No Legal Advice

The material on this site does not constitute legal advice. General descriptions of Washington County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or New York record-sealing rule applies to a particular person. Advice about an individual matter should come from an attorney licensed in New York.

6. No Warranties

All site content is supplied "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • Any information will always be accurate, complete, or up to date
  • Access will remain continuous and free from interruption
  • The pages contain no defects, errors, or security weaknesses
  • An outside search service will return complete or correct results

Criminal records can change when charges are filed or dismissed and when New York courts seal eligible matters. Updates may not be reflected at once, and omissions can occur. Site content is not an official statement from Washington County, a court, the Sheriff, DCJS, or any other public agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, New York courts, DCJS, legal-aid resources, or other outside services. Following one leaves this website for a service beyond its control. No responsibility is accepted for an outside provider's content, fees, availability, privacy practices, or data handling. Review that provider's own terms before proceeding.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, logos, and graphics presented here are owned by Washington County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written authorization.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site's operators are not responsible for losses or damages arising from use of the site, including action taken in reliance on its content or an outside linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the site's operators harmless against claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or a breach of these terms. This obligation includes related costs and reasonable legal fees.

11. Governing Law

New York State law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, restricted, or ended at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be limited or revised only to the extent needed for enforceability.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
